| INCLUSION |
The
Prestwich Learning Support staff is comprised of the
SEN Co-ordinator, teaching assistants, specialist teachers
and a very wide range of external agencies whose expertise
and support can be called upon where appropriate. Collectively
the Faculty offers the following areas of intervention:
Support
for students and colleagues in mainstream classes and
the development of collaborative approaches;
Assistance
in the development of suitable materials, resources
and methodologies to provide for students with special
educational needs;
Withdrawal
of students from mainstream classes for specific purposes
and periods of time. These include the school’s Paired
Reading Scheme and ‘Success Maker’ programme;
Development
of effective procedures for the identification, assessment,
referral and recording of students’ needs;
Contribution
to appropriate in-service training; Development of the
central SEN resource base, the ‘Access Centre’;
Provision
of behavioural support strategies through the ‘Pupil
Support Centre’;
Liason
with Heads of Year, form tutors and other colleagues
in the school and outside support agenciese. |
