Before I went I was very nervous, I was scared of the older children and the teachers!!! I thought I would have no friends because most of my old friends had gone to Parrenthorn. I thought that I would not be able to manage remembering all of my books and my homework.
When I got there most of my worries went away, I got a sense of belonging to something, I saw a boy standing by himself so I went up to talk to him, that was my first friend at my new school. When I went to my form room, I got seated next to this girl called Emily, I barely talked to her or anyone. Over time I gradually made new friends and got more confident. I started to take part in clubs and made more friends.
Now I am very happy at my school. I take part in a lot of clubs and after school activities. And I am glad that I chose Prestwich Arts College. I feel that I am really part of the school community. All of the teachers know all of the pupils names, and all of the pupils know all of the teacher's names.
All I can say to you is, don't be worried. I know it's hard not to worry but it'll be fine. When on your first day, don't be shy and reserved, if your shy you won't make friends. Be confident, you're more likely to make friends if you're confident.
At our school we do two languages, French and Spanish. When you come to this school you will start
French, and when you get into Year 9 you will start to learn Spanish. We have 5 language teachers,
these are Madame Bailey, Madame Pickavance, Madame Tracey, Madame Clarkson and Madame Williams.
And don't worry they're all friendly!!! I'm in year 8 now so I've been learning French for two years
and I'm getting quite good at it!!! Even if I do say so myself.
