Welcome to our Key Stage 2 section.

Thank you for choosing Prestwich Arts College as the Secondary school for your son or daughter. I also chose the right school in 2002 when I accepted the offer to become Head Teacher.

We recognise that choosing a secondary school is one of the most important decisions that you will make. You can, therefore, be reassured that many other parents have made a similar choice and the new intake year group is full. Coming on top of a very successful OFSTED inspection in 2007 where the inspectors judged the school to be ‘effective and improving’ and our recent news that we will be receiving almost half a million pounds to deliver the new ‘Creative and Media Diploma for 14-18 year olds, the school is definitely entering an exciting phase of its life. Our success is due, in no small part, to the positive and supportive relationships that we build with our parents.

Over the course of the last 12 months we have regularly sought the views of parents from all year groups as to how satisfied they are with the quality of education which we provide. 95% of parents stated that their child enjoys school, 96% felt that their children were making good progress and 99% felt that their children were safe and well cared for. Since it is some time since you came to the school on ‘Open Evening’, this will, I hope, provide you with further evidence of our commitment to every child who joins us. We will not, however, allow ourselves to become complacent. We will not forget that you have made your choice and that you are placing your trust in us and investing in your child’s future. We will cherish that trust.

This booklet is part of our commitment to supporting you and you’re your child with important information about our values, our procedures and how you can best support your child. Please make good use of it. Your child will also receive a ‘Personal Organiser when they start at school in September. This will be the main vehicle for Home School communications and I would be grateful if you would ensure that your child really takes care of it.
