How the Positive Behaviour System Works
Warning (Given in class)
Sanction (written response outlining how a situation should have been handled by the pupil)
Year Detention (Tuesdays/Thursdays 3.15 - 4.00)
Any year detentions given will be recorded in the pupil organiser in order to inform you of the date of the detention, and the reason for the detention. Detentions not done because of absence will be served on the next available detention day (Tuesday or Thursday for 45 minutes).
Senior Staff Detention (Fridays 3.15 - 4.30)
A senior staff detention will be issued for more serious offences. A letter will be sent home informing you of the offence and the date of detention. It will be for 75 minutes and will usually be on a Friday.
Quiet Room (Pupils are isolated internally for one day)
Being placed in the Quiet Room is our most serious sanction before exclusion. A Quiet Room referral usually follows incidents of totally unacceptable behaviour, physical / verbal violence, truancy, and refusal to follow school procedures. If your son/daughter is placed in the Quiet Room you will be informed by letter.
'Traffic lights' report system (Green: Form Tutor Yellow: Progress Manager
Red: Senior Leader)
Warning letter
Sent to parents, requesting their urgent help in avoiding a possible exclusion and supporting the school's efforts to ensure good behaviour.
Fixed term exclusion
Referral to the Pupil Support Centre (Five week Contract / Pastoral Support Plan)
Behaviour
School has a very clear, consistent and rigorously upheld view of how pupils should behave. No child has the right to stop a teacher from teaching or spoil other pupils' right to learning and their education. The school's positive behaviour system is well understood by our pupils, consequently good behaviour is a strong feature of the school as recognised in our latest Ofsted report. We seek to actively involve parents in ensuring that the good standards of behaviour are maintained. We ask all parents to sign a Home / School contract as part of our joint agreement, to work in partnership.
