Absence.
If your child is absent, then please contact the school on the morning of the absence and please keep the school informed. School will insist on all absence being confirmed by a note. Where school has not been informed about an absence, the school's automated system will contact parents by midday, requesting that the absence be confirmed / explained.

Regular absence will be challenged and it is for the school to decide if an absence can be authorised. Referrals will be made to the school's Education Welfare Officer where there are concerns about regular and / or high levels of absence. Unfortunately, it has been necessary, on occasion, to fine and take parents to court where a child's attendance has become an issue. Full details regarding all aspects of attendance, taking holidays in term time etc can be found on the school website under the policy section.
Lateness.
The school gates are closed at 8.45am and registration takes place at 8.50am, any pupil not present at that time will be marked as absent. This will be amended to late if a pupil arrives after this time but before 9.25am. Any arrival after 9.25am will be marked as an absence for the morning session. Regular poor punctuality will be sanctioned by detention.
Sickness / Injuries
If your child is ill or injured in school the office will make contact with you directly. Arrangements can then be made for your child to be supervised or collected. It is vital that school has up to date contact information, as well as any relevant medical history or details of current medication.
Is it just one day?
Government research suggests that 17 missed school days per year (91%) attendance equates to a GCSE grade drop in achievement. It is with this in mind that we strongly urge all parents to ensure that their child's attendance, whenever possible, is maintained at 95+%
