ICT at Prestwich Arts College.
The
ICT department is committed to providing a sound foundation
for pupils to progress in an incresingly digital world.
Pupils are taught using a wide range of software including
software agreed as industry standard.
At
key stage 3 pupils cover all the basic operations of office software as well as experience in more creative uses of ICT such as Flash animation, audio editing and video work.
Key stage 4 will in September adopt the new OCR Nationals suite of units that allows pupils to attain a level 2 GCSE equivelant in ICT. High ability pupils may also be able to attempt to complete further units of work building to an equivelant of 2 GCSE's.
ICT use is also encouraged across the curriculum to support other subjects and rooms are available for other subjects to use. There are 2 main ICT rooms and a further 2 rooms used solely for other curricular areas.
Outside the curriculum Pupils are encouraged to come to Study Studio to further their studies. Dedicated staff are on hand to support them academically and technically. The ICT department also runs a Flash animation club on a Wednesday after school. |
